Sometimes they do something caring...
by jws ini was talking to my dad this weekend and he mentioned that the jws in his congregation and others were planning to rent out a park pavilion and throw a party for a guy to cheer him up because he's been pretty sad after his wife died a few months ago.. first thought was, after hearing all the stories about how cold and heartless the jws can be, here was one example of them seeming to show some genuine concern.. of course, not to let them off the hook entirely, this guy was pretty well known.
i've been away from it for a while and he wasn't part of our hall so i don't remember his resume all that well, but i'm certain he was an elder and i think has at least a couple of sons who are elders and i think he played a big role in helping run conventions.
your average non-ms, non-elder, isn't very likely to get a pavilion full of friends.. i give them credit for showing concern, but there are a lot of people who also need help and fall through the cracks.

This guy seems to be one of the favored in the congregation. They will bend over backwards when someone has some sort of position of power within the congregation or circuit.
Sounds like they are trying to use this persons misfortunes just to suck up to someone who has a little power.

I see these idiots drive their Hummers around the city all the time. What's the point? Ohhh, when we have that one big snow storm a year, they will be able to go to the store for their milk and toilet paper. Other than that, I can't see the point.
Now if you were living in a remote area where this type of vehicle will be put to the best use, then I could see investing in that kind of vehicle, but for city/suburb driving.....come on!!!!

The news in the Baltimore/DC area has the total death toll relating to Isabel at 9. One of which was killed in a weather related auto accident not to far from where I live.
But, I finally got my cable TV back and was flipping through the channels and came across that asshat Pat Robertson saying how the Lord has blessed us that NO ONE DIED during this hurricane. I just wish I could reach in throught the TV and smack him silly.

there hasn't been much of horror movies in the 1990s since the popular horror movie franchise was around in the 30s on up until the 1980s, then it has pretty much dropped out of sight throughout the 1990s.

I love the classic horror movies. Bride of Frankenstein is my absolute favorite.
Dracula, Wolfman, The Mummy, Claude Reins as the Invisible Man, King Kong. All these movies have a degree of intelligence to them. They didn't need to show the blood and gore special effects of today's movies.
